The german soprano Soojin Moon-Sebastian is singing a widely spread repertoire with her rich flexibility, outstanding skillful musical phrasing , colorful brilliance of her natural young dramatic voice with  sensitive expressions and can currently be heard on many European and international stages.

Recently Soprano Soojin Moon gave a successful debut with Ariadne (Struass Ariadne auf  Naxos) in Nederlandse  Reisopera in  Enschede, Den Haag, Rotterdam , Amsterdam etc in September and October  2016 under  the baton of  Antonino Fogliani. The  production  of  Nederlandse Reisopera with Ariadne  auf  Naxos  ( by Laurence  Dale ) won the  best  opera award 2016 in the  Netehrlands. And  she  sang Tosca  in Staatstheater  Cottbus  and  she  gave her brillant debut with  Turandot (the titel  role) on the 30th  april 2017 in Staatstheater Cottbus  under  the  baton of  Evan Christ. In this season 2017-18 she is a guest again for Turandot in Staatstheater Cottbus.

In august and september 2018 Soprano Soojin Moon  gives 2 concerts in Rotterdam and Almere  with Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest under the  batton of  Maxim Emelyanychev. For the 2018-2019 season, she was invited by CIO-CIO San in Madama Butterfly at the Staatstheater Kassel, theater Trier and Turandot at Theater Chemnitz.

In the season 2015/16 she  made  a successful debut  with  Lady Macbeth  in Theater  Bielefeld  und  sang Abigaille  in Theater Pforzheim  and Theater Nordhausen. And she came back to Cio-Cio-San in Madama Butterfly by Operazuid as a cooperation in Theater für Niedersachsen.

In 2013/14 seasons she sang as Abigaille (Verdi’s Nabucco) und Cio-Cio San in Vokstheater Rostock and as Tosca  in Theater  Bielefeld. In the  season 2014/15 in Theater Bielefeld she  got  a lot  of success with  Cio-Cio san  and the  stage  director  Nadja  Loschky won   “Götz Friedrich Preis” with this  Madama Butterfly  production. And  in the  same  season Soojin Moon sang  as Tosca  in Staatstheater Cottbus  where  a lot  of  critics were  enthusiastic.

In 2011 she performed Marguerite in “Faust” at National Opera of Seoul and concerts in Rome in Italy like Bach’s Johannespassion, Great f-minor Mass of Bruckner.She sang in Verdi’s Requiem in Munich in Germany in November 2011 and she gave her successful french debut with Cio-Cio San from June at the same year and in Madame Butterfly of Opera Zuid  including  the concert in  Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Maastricht , Eindhoven etc in the Netherlands in 2012. This production won the best production 2012of the Netherladns operas. She is as a cover in Abigaille in Verdi’s Nabucco in Winter & Summer Tiroler  Festpiel 2012-2013. (under the direction of  Gustav  Kuhn). In febraury 2013 in Brest in France she sang in the role Cio-Cio San.

After her professor’s activity at Catholic University for 3 semesters in Korea she definitively came back to Europe to focus attentively on her music career. In 2010 March she gave concerts under the baton of Eduardo Rahn with Metropolitana Orchestra in Portugal with the program full of Mozart’s dramatic arias and in the same year April she was invited for Requiem Mass of Verdi under the direction of Yau Lim with Singapore Symphony Orchestra in Singapore. After in October in Alte Oper Frankfurt she gave a gala concert under the baton of Peter Falk.

In 2007 March in Orlando in USA she made her debut as Cio-Cio San in “Madame Butterfly” under the baton of Andreas Mitisek , acclaimed for a Puccini’s Heroine. In 2008 February she performed Violetta at National Theater SUCRE in Quito in Ecuador and her interpretation was acclaimed by enthusiastic excellent critics. In 2008 she got the big honor to give a concert with the great tenor Giuseppe Giacomini in Korea .In May 2009 she made her debut in Berlin Komische Oper as Cio-Cio San in the production of Calixto Bieito under the baton of Enrico Delamboye and at the same month her activity as a soloist followed concerts with Haydn's dramatic aria "Scena di Berenice" under the baton of Theodor Guschlbauer in Santiago de Compostela with the Real Filharmonia de Galicia in Spain.

In 2005 she made her debut in Strauss’  "Elektra“under the baton of Semyon Bychkov at La Scala in Milan and performed Micaëla in” Carmen” under the baton of Yves Abel at Teatro di Cagliari in Italy where she had been continuously invited as Konstanze in “Die Entfuehrung aus dem Serail” under the baton of Theodor Guschlbauer, Gerhilde in “Die Walkuere” and Musetta in “La Bohème”until 2010. In 2006 she sang Musetta in “La Boheme” at the Alten Biesen Festival in Belgium, at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Mimì in “La Bohèeme” at theaters in Bamberg, Bayreuth and Hof. She also has been invited as Violetta and Mimì at Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Liù in Turandot in Giessen, Helmwige in Detmold,  Giulietta in “Les contes d’Hoffmann” in Bonn. Her vocal flexibility and sensibility brought her to Belgium as Pamina in “Die  Zauberfloete” and at “L’Auditorium  G.Verdi” in Milan as the Soprano soloist for the concerts of Mozart’s “Great  c-minor Mass” under the  baton of  Romano Gandolfi (2006, Radio RAI in live) and Requiem Mass under the baton of  Ruben Jais with the LA VERDI Orchestra.

Since then Soojin Moon appeared as Marguerite in Gounod’s “Faust“ under the baton of  Peter Maag  in Rovigo, Trento and Treviso in Italy winning the  role at the Internationalm singing Cometition “Toti dal Monte” (1998) ,at the season 1999-2000 she sang the title role in Massenet’s “Manon“ under the baton of Michael Guettler at Stadttheater Klagenfurt in Austria .after moving to Germany in 2001 She had  been as a regular guest until 2007 at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, as Ghita in “Der Zwerg“, Isabella in “L’inganno felice“, Néméa in “Si j’etais Roi“, La Fée in Massenet’s “Cendrillon“, Giulietta in “Les contes d’Hoffmann”,  Clelia und Livia in “Octavia“ (under the baton of Andreas Spering), and Gerhilde in Wagner’s “ Die Walküre” .  And as a soloist there she gave many concerts including chamber music from Baroque to modern with Deutsche Händel Solisten and Badische Staatskapelle (under the baton of Kazushi Ono, Uwe Sandner and Anthony Bramall)

Born in Seoul, Korea, she received her Bachelor of Music degree summa cum laude from National University of Seoul. During her time at the University she appeared as soloist in numerous concerts with acknowledged korean orchestras like KBS Symphony Orchestra and made her operatic debut as Despina in “Cosi fan tutte” at Seoul Sejong Culture Theater. 

Soojin Moon came to Europe and continued her studies at the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi“ in Milan with Prof. Rita Orlandi Malaspina and received the Diploma in music summa cum laude, winning the scholarship of the Foundation “Sergio Dragoni” and giving numerous concerts with orchestras in SALA VERDI in Milan. Furthermore, she participated in Master Classes given by Sherrill Milnes, Regina Resnik, Renato Bruson, Dalton Baldwin and Monserrat Caballé.

Recently she works privately takes advices by Josephine  Barstow,  Laurence Dale, Nelson Calzi and  James  Vaughn.

As a recitalist she also continues to give much passionate enthusiasm for european art songs to contemporary classical music.

She won the prize at Dong-A national music competition, first prize at the Korean Broadcasting Competition "Young artists“ (1993), at the “Toti Dal Monte” international vocal competition“ in Treviso (1998), at the “International Opera Singing Competition” Rocca delle Mace“ (1999), third prize at the “International Singing competition Verviers, Royal de Wallonie (1997) & Bilbao (1998) and she was awarded a special award at the “Riccardo Zandonai” International Competition“ (1998). And she had been finalist at numerous international competitions like IVC Hertogenbosch, Montserrat Caballé in Andorra, J. Aragall, F.Viñas in Barcelona etc.
